If the tickets in PDF format are being generated with some unreadable characters like '?????' then you need to install the font Dejavusans for the PDF creation.
The default font 'Helvetica' doesn't support many multi-byte characters and so, you may experience problems with various languages where the encoding will fail and the PDF will contain strange characters.

Inside the full package archive of VikEvents that you downloaded after the purchase, you will find a folder called 'Dejavusans_PDF_Font' next to the folders 'Joomla2.5' and 'Joomla3.x'. You should copy via FTP all the files inside the folder 'Dejavusans_PDF_Font' (not the folder itself, just the files inside it), onto the following directory of your server:

/components/com_vikevents/helpers/tcpdf/fonts/

This will install the font Dejavusans for the TCPDF class and all the characters will now be encoded correctly. The reason why the first installation does not install this font automatically, is because of its weight which is around 6MB. It is nothing for a server but probably too much for a file upload.

The font Dejavusans looks a lot better than the default Helvetica so we suggest using it for any language, no matter if the characters encoding works well. It is just a more complete font for the PDF.
