Joomla 3.7 - New Datepicker Calendars
A new version of the Joomla framework is now available: the 3.7 series! Joomla 3.7.0 was released on April 25th 2017 with many exciting new features and improvements to security and stability. In this article we won't be digging into all the new features of Joomla 3.7.0 but we are rather going to focus on the new Datepicker calendar. Your Vik-component may not support this new Datepicker calendar and the installation of a patch may be required.
The new Joomla 3.7.0 was released on April 25th 2017 with many exciting new features and improvements to security and stability. In this article we won't be digging into all the new features of Joomla 3.7.0 but we are rather going to focus on the new Datepicker calendar.
Do you remember how the Datepicker calendar looked like before this new release? Here is a picture that shows the "old" and the "new" calendar for picking dates. You must have seen it and used it for various components of the back-end:
The style has been definitely modified and the new datepicker looks a lot better. It actually has a lot of new useful features too, but there is also a "dark" side of this change for what concerns our extensions. In fact, you may be experiencing unexpected behaviors in the back-end of your Vik-component. When editing a record, for example, you may get invalid dates that default to today's date. Also, some buttons may not be properly aligned, but the most important (and dangerous) thing is that the dates of a reservation could be messed up if you try to update an existing record. Due to the fact that the dates will default to today's date rather than to the actual dates of the reservation/item, when editing a reservation or any other record, you should pay attention to which dates are displayed as default. All our components are affected by this issue and this will be valid also for the future Joomla releases of the 3.7 series.
Luckily, there is a solution to this problem: download and install the patch for the extension you are using. Our programmers have created a patch for all our extensions that will resolve this issue with the new Datepicker calendar. The patch consists in a few PHP files for the back-end that should be replaced (manually) via FTP onto your server.
Please notice that you should apply this patch only if you have purchased or downloaded a copy of your extension (only components, not modules, plugins, templates or payment gateways) before April 26th 2017. The patches we released are only available for the current latest versions of each extension at today (April 26th). If you are still using an older version, then it will be sufficient to update to the latest one without installing any patches. This is because the updates already contain this patch for Joomla 3.7.
Enter your Order Number below to download the patch for the extension you've purchased. Follow the instructions inside the archive (README file) to apply the patch:
