Hello,
We are aware of the broken link in the newsletter email we sent the other day. We apologize for that issue but it was caused by our SMTP provider.
The link to download the Update to the new version 1.5 is the following:

http://www.extensionsforjoomla.com/component/vikfree/?update=vikbooking

In the email message we sent out only the link was incorrect because it was not pointing to our website but rather to a click tracking system. By copying and pasting on your browser that URL of the broken link you would see the correct page.

I am having problems getting the booking process to work.

In prices and payments I have disabled pay entire amount and set leave a deposit to an amount but the deposit does not show when I make a test booking.

Also the availability checker doesn't show the calendar when you click into the date box on the front end. I have the same problem when using the check in and check out dates on the booking form.

Hello,
If the deposit amount that needs to be paid is not being displayed then it's probably because the payment option that you used set the status of the booking to Confirmed. If you were using an actual payment gateway like PayPal then the deposit amount to be paid would have been transmitted to PayPal.

About the datepickers of the front-site, if the date fields are not displaying the calendar on focus then it's because you have a jQuery/Javascript error on your site, probably caused by another module or plugin.
You should disable the setting "Load jQuery" from the parameters of all your modules and leave the same setting enabled in the configuration page of VikBooking.
If changing these parameters won't change anything then you should install a plugin like "jQuery Easy" to fix this Javascript conflict. In the Documentations page of this website you can find more details.

Hello,
That must be caused by a misconfiguration of your rooms and rates, it has nothing to do with the Search Module.
You should make sure to have created at least one Type of Price and the rates per night in the Rates Table. In fact, if you are searching for a room for 5 nights, if you don't have a cost for 5 nights in the Rates Table, this won't be displayed in the search results.
Also, make sure that the combinations of rooms, adults and children is in accordance with the capacity of your rooms.

Hi!
I am very happy with Vikbooking but I have one question: Is it possible to show occupancy on the frontendcalendar, so the customers can immediately see wich period is occupied? I have one room (one house to rent).

Hi,
The View "Rooms Details" shows the availability for each room with a number of calendars defined in the Configuration page. To access that page for the moment you should create a new Joomla Menu Item of type VikBooking - Rooms List. Then in the front site from that page, by clicking on the details button of your House, you will get to its details page.
In the next version of the program we will add a new type of View called "Single Room" from which you will be able to link directly your House onto a Menu. The new version 1.5 of the program will be released soon.

Thanks for the fast answer, I will wait until the update then, perfect! :)

Hi!

Can you help me once more? I don't know how to do this.
How should I proceed? So I want to show occupancy (so people can see when the house is occupied) in the front end calendar on www.texelchaletbaks.nl.
Thanks in advance!
Staff E4j 2-8-15 19:18
Hi,
The new version 1.5 was released a few months ago as you may have noticed.
Just create a new Menu Item from the Joomla back-end and choose the type VikBooking - Single Room. Select the house/room you would like to display and that's it.
Otherwise you can keep using the View Rooms List but in both cases you need to use the Joomla native functions and add a new link to your Menus.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! I tried this a few monts ago, after the update and didn't succed but now I'm trying again. The problem is I can't see the option single room. So I tried to re-update; then I get an error. So I think it has to do something with me updating gone wrong.
But I'l try to use the room list in the meantime.
tnx
Staff E4j 2-8-15 23:43
Hi,
I believe that you are using an old Joomla version like 1.5 because the View Single Room has a parameter to load all the rooms in VikBooking. This kind of Menu Item is only supported in Joomla 2.5 and 3.x. If you cannot migrate to a newer Joomla version then you should use the Rooms List view.

Hi, I would like to enquire with regards to the setting for the rates for the year 2015, I can't seem to change the rates for that year, it kept on remaining to 2014.

Thanks and regards,

Hi,
for the moment the Special Prices are not related to the year and they are always applied on the months. For this reason if you create a Special Price for 2015 the system will display it in the back-end as 2014.
In the new version 1.5 that will be released in the next few weeks, we have added a function to create Special Prices related to certain years after receiving a lot of requests from our clients. You will be able to create Special Prices only for 2015 with the new version and Updates are always free.

Hello. I am trying to set up a single supplement. Some of my rooms have a higher rate if only one person is staying. Can you tell me how I can do that? Thanks.

Hello,
you can adjust the prices per occupancy from the Edit page of your rooms. This is possible only if your room allows a different minimum and maximum number of Adults, for example from 1 to 2 Adults. In my example you would be able to set a charge or a discount in case the room was occupied by either 1 or 2 Adults.
This price modification would then be applied to your default rates per night of the Rates Table for that room.
Dwight Britten 8-12-14 19:33
Hello, I have setup VicBooking which so far is excellent. The only issue is at present I can only for a MAXIMUM of 1 night. The minimum is set to 1 night so why am I unable to book for more than 1 night e.g. 2, 3 or 4 nights?

I have gone though the settings and can't see anything.

Thanks

Dwight

Hello,

If you are only able to make bookings for 1 night and not for 2, 3, 4 etc.. then it must be because you haven't entered any costs for those nights from the Rates Table task. In fact, if there isn't any cost for the number of nights searched, it won't be possible to save the booking.
Try to enter the costs for 2, 3, 4 etc.. nights and you should be able to complete the bookings for a number of nights higher than 1.

Hi,
If the method of payment "Bank Transfer" is setting the status of the bookings to Confirmed then the availability of your rooms will be lowered on those dates. Then the availability calendars of your rooms will display certain dates as "Partially Reserved" if some of the units of your room are still available. The days instead will be displayed as "Not Available" only if no more units of the room are available for bookings.
I think you have more than one unit available for your rooms and some were still available on those dates, that is why the days were displayed as Partially Reserved rather than as Not Available.

Hi,
In the version 1.4 of VikBooking we introduced the possibility of applying restrictions only to a certain range of dates and not to a whole month.
You are probably using an older version so you should update to the latest one by downloading the Updater component from the Account Manager.

Hello!
I'm trying to find out how backend reservation with discount & front-end payment works as it's said in the changelog for version 1.4 : " It is now possible to apply custom discounts to the bookings from the administrator section and make the users pay on the front-end".

I have tried to make a quick reservation from the administrator section -Waiting for confirmation, offline credit card- but the user does not receive an email with the booking and payment link.

How does it work?
Thanks.
Rafael

Hello,
When you save a reservation from the back-end, from the Calendar task with the Quick Reservation form, the system does not send any email message to the customer because the order may need to be completed by the administrator.
From the Quick Reservation form, you should leave the status of the booking to "Pending" and choose the desired method of payment as well as entering the customer information and email address.
Once the booking is saved, you can apply a custom discount from its Edit page and you can choose a type of price for the cost of the room and eventually some of the Options.
After the booking is complete, you can click the button "Re-send Order eMail" so that the customer will be notified by the system or you can email directly the customers and give them the link contained in the "View in Front Site" button.
The order in the front site will result as "Waiting for the payment" and the customer will be able to complete it.
