Hi!

I want a special weekend price, so that the price will decrease if the customer wants to book a car between friday and monday and ONLY those days. Saturday to monday will not give a discount... How do i configure that?

Hi,

You should use the function Value Overrides for your Special Price and set the amount of discount only in case the days of rent are 3 and you should select Friday, Saturday and Sunday as accepted week-days.
Also, you should select the Start and End dates for your Special Price, even if this is valid all year long.
For example, if you are willing to give a 20% off on rentals from Friday to Monday, the default discount amount of the Special Price should be of 20% and then with the Value Overrides you can say that 1 Day of Rent should override the discount amount to 0, same thing for 2 Days of rent while for 3 Days the amount should be 20. For 4 Days -and More- (make sure to select this option), the discounted amount will still be of 0.

Hello,
From the Fares Table page of the administrator section you can enter the rental costs for any days of rent that you allow.
You just have to populate your prices per day just like we did in the demo website. You can set the exact price for any day of rent that you allow for your cars.

Hi,
If that has to be valid for any days/seasons of the year then you can just lower the rental cost for 7 days for your vehicles from the Fares Table page, Daily Fares tab of the back-end.
Instead, if that's something to be applied only during a specific season/period of the year then your Special Price should have a Dates Range filter, no Week-Days selected, a default discount value of 0.00 and with the Value Overrides function, you can set the discount amount in case the days of rental are 7 only. This way the discount will always be of $0.00 but in case the days of rent are 7, the discount will be applied thanks to the Override of the Special Price.

Can i set a special price for specific car for specific rental duration? example: Toyota Aygo for 7 days x price.

The second question,
Can i disable the availability calendar in the front end booking?

Hello,

You can set a Special Price for a specific length of the rental by using the Value Overrides feature. You can override the default value for the charge or the discount if the rent is 7 days long or more.
You can disable the availability calendars displayed in the details page of each vehicle by changing the setting "number of calendars" to 0 from the Configuration page.

Hi,
If you don't want to display the availability calendars then you should change the default number of calendars displayed from the Configuration page. By default it is set to 3. Change it to 0.
Instead, if you don't want to display the datepickers in the booking form at the bottom of the page, the only way to disable that is by disabling the Configuration setting "Enable Rental" but that will be applied globally and it won't be possible to place any reservation.

Am referring to availability calendars. When default changed to zero, calendar is not shown but month selector etc is still visible. I have used display:none for now.. thanks.

Hello,

If you are not using any payment option then the default status for all the orders will be Confirmed.
However, if you are willing to collect online payments then you can just use the pre-installed payment option "Bank Transfer" and rename it into something like "Pay upon arrival". By using a payment option you can decide what should be the status to apply to new orders. In your case, in the payment option "Bank Transfer", you should Disable the setting "Auto-Set Order to Confirmed" so that the status will be Pending.

Hi,
I'm using VikRent Car v.1.7 and I would like to know if it's possible that can get a 3 months 'calendar' to display when selecting a pickup and dropoff date? I think this would be great as displaying a 3 months calendar would make it easier for the user to select a date further in the future.

Hi,
In order to have 3 months displayed in the datepickers you would have to change the Javascript code used to render the jQuery UI calendars.
As you can see from their API website at http://api.jqueryui.com/datepicker/ there is an Option called "numberOfMonths" that you should add in the set up code.
Just find the files default.php in VikRentCar that display the datepickers and add that property to the Javascript (jQuery) code.

Hello,
I see that some of the language definitions for the administrator section are not being translated correctly. You should check your French translation file (/administrator/language/fr-FR/fr-FR.com_vikrentcar.ini) to see if it has any syntax errors that truncate the file or if you are missing some language definitions.
You should compare that file with the English one located in:
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_vikrentcar.ini
If the French translation has less rows than the English one then it means that your translation file is not updated and it's missing some translations. You should copy the ones that are missing onto the French .INI file and translate them.

Hi,
Yes, you can do a dump of an old installation of VikRentCar and import the database tables onto a new website. Just make sure that the new installation has the same version of VikRentCar or you will be importing data with an old database structure.
You can export all the database tables that start with "vikrentcar_" and import them onto the new database.
Also, make sure to download the images of your vehicles from the old installation for then uploading them onto the new installation otherwise the database tables will call some images that you don't have on the server because they were uploaded from the old installation.
Before doing all the steps above you should install from scratch VikRentCar onto the new website and then import database tables and images.

When i try to change ini file with Turkish language, i experienced that the Turkish characters are not recognized. How can i resolve this problem?

Hi,
if some special characters of the Turkish translation are not being displayed correctly then it's because the .INI file was not saved with a proper encoding.
You should download the translation .INI file from your server and open it with a good text editor like Notepad++ for Windows, TextMate for Mac or gEdit for Linux. With your preferred text editor you should save the file with the same name, applying the UTF-8 encoding.
One of those editors, with the syntax highlighter, should also show you if the file has a syntax error like a non closed double quote ("). However, if you are just seeing strange characters, the problem must be caused by the encoding of the file so just re-save it with a proper encoding and re-upload it onto your server.
