Plugins

IP Info Handler

The IP Info Handler plugin is used to retrieve the information of an IP Address (such as the country code). It uses a dedicated service provided by https://ipinfo.io. This type of service allows 1000 daily connections, that should be enough for the VikSecure's purposes.

It is possible to access the settings of this module from Extensions > Plugins, by searching for "IP Info".

By disabling this plugin, VikSecure will be no more able to obtain the country code of a known IP address.

  • Token - a token key for paid plans. If the connections limit is too low for your website, you can take a look at the pricing section on https://ipinfo.io.

SpamHaus XBL

The SpamHaus XBL plugin is used prevent the connections that come from abusive IP addresses. This feature relies on an external service provided by https://spamhaus.org. This type of service allows up to 100.000 daily connections, that should be enough for the VikSecure's purposes.

The system is able to detect abusive IPs thanks to different types of databases:

  • SBL - The Spamhaus Block List (SBL) Advisory is a database of IP addresses from which Spamhaus does not recommend the acceptance of electronic mail.
  • XBL - The Spamhaus Exploits Block List (XBL) is a realtime database of IP addresses of hijacked PCs infected by illegal 3rd party exploits, including open proxies, worms/viruses with built-in spam engines, and other types of trojan-horse exploits.
  • PBL - The Spamhaus PBL is a DNSBL database of end-user IP address ranges which should not be delivering unauthenticated SMTP email to any Internet mail server except those provided for specifically by an ISP for that customer's use. The PBL helps networks enforce their Acceptable Use Policy for dynamic and non-MTA customer IP ranges.

It is possible to access the settings of this module from Extensions > Plugins, by searching for "SpamHaus XBL".

By disabling this plugin, VikSecure will be no more able to block abusive IP addresses.

  • Enabled Lists - choose here all the lists in which the system should check (SBL, XBL and PBL). In order to avoid blocking several static IPs, it is suggested to select only the XBL list.
