Just to let you know, I had originally tried JHotelReservations as well as VikBooking before buying the latter. All worked well until I decided to un-install JHotelReservations last night, now it prevents me confirming orders on VikBooking - the steps from date entry, through search & options all work fine, and I can enter the name, email, phone etc for the client details, but when I click to confirm it appears a JHotelReservations plugin has been left behind that is doing some form of url translation and the system crashes looking for a database table belonging to JHotelReservations.

Now, it's easy for me to rectify, I'm doing a clean re-installation of Joomla and VikBooking, but just in case nobody told you before, letting you know.

Hi,
Thanks for reporting that issue. It may be sufficient to uninstall that pluing in conflict but for sure a clean installation will be better for your website.

Hi,

The component runs perfect and looks great! I just miss a availability calendar visible for our quests.

Thanks.

Hi,
Each Room/House has its own availability calendars for displaying the availability on certain dates. You can see that from the Details page of each Room/house by creating a Joomla Menu Item of type VikBooking - Single Room or by clicking on the details button from the Joomla Menu Item of type VikBooking - Rooms List.
You can define the default number of calendars to display from the Configuration page of the back-end.

Hi, I have some problem with translation files.
I uploaded them in this way
it-IT.com_vikbooking.sys.ini into /administrator/language/it-IT
it-IT.com_vikbooking.ini into /language/it-IT
it-IT.mod_vikbooking_search.ini into /language/it-IT

Purge Cache but no way...
I have to make some other action?

Thanks

Hi,
The paths on which you uploaded the translation files are fine. The only thing is that the component has a language file for the back-end and one for the front-end. The file it-IT.com_vikbooking.sys.ini contains only some language definitions for the Joomla Menus, it is not the full translation of the back-end. The translation file for the back-end has the same exact name as the one for the front-end (it-IT.com_vikbooking.ini) but its content is obviously different.
You should open the file it-IT.com_vikbooking.ini to see if it's a translation for the back-end or for the front-end. In case it's for the front-end, you uploaded it onto the right path (/language/it-IT/) but the back-end will still be in English because there's no translation file for it.
Also, once you have uploaded all the correct translation files, make sure to have enabled Italian as your default language for the back-end/front-end.

Hi, firstly, lovely bit of software, what it does it does well.
However, I'm looking for an availability report which it doesn't seem to have, it can show bookings per room per day, but not the remaining available rooms where available = allocated - bookings

or am I mistaken ?

Hi,
Did you see the Overview function of the back-end? That page will show you the remaining availability for each room on various dates. It will tell you how many units of the rooms have been booked on some dates and how many allotments are still available.

Hi I before buying the component would like to know if you can set for some periods of a minimum booking of nights.

I also would like to know if there is the possibility of integrating codes discounts linked to certain promotions during the year

Hi,
If you take a look at the administrator section of the demo website of VikBooking, you will see that with the Restrictions it is possible to define a Minimum Length of Stay on some periods of the year. With the Restrictions you can also define what most portals call "MaxLOS", a maximum number of nights on some seasons/months/festivities of the year. Optionally, you could also force the arrival and departure week days on those dates.
About code discounts: with the Coupons you can generate codes that will apply discounts as either fixed or percentage amounts to the bookings. Coupon codes can have a "validity dates" so that they can be redeemed only on those dates. However, the Coupon Codes are not displayed anywhere in the front-site so you will have, somehow, to inform your customers about these coupon codes.

Hello, VikBooking team,

I've got a tricky question : is it possible to open the result of a room search in a lightbox or in another position in my joomla template than the content section ? In the top position, for exemple ?

I'm on VikBooking 1.4, Joomla 3.3.6 and using the horinzontal search module.

Hello,

Rendering the content of the component in the top position or any other of your Template would not be possible if the components are rendered somewhere else. Only modules can be rendered on different positions but not the components.
Maybe by adding some Javascript/jQuery code, you can render the search results within an iFrame opened through a lightbox but this will require some code modifications.
First of all the Horizontal Search module should call the .js file for the Lightbox plugin (for jQuery) so you will have to download it and call it just like the module is calling the library jQuery UI.
Then you will have to see what would be the best solution. Probably, you should add an iframe tag with a certain ID and an empty SRC, at the bottom of the file default.php of the module. Then, by changing the TARGET attribute of the form of the module and make it point to that iFrame tag, you should be able to display that iFrame with the Lightbox plugin.
However, you should look up something online like how to make a form submit the data to an iFrame and then you should see how you can display the iFrame with Lightbox.
I hope this helps.
P.S. You should consider updating to VikBooking v1.5 since it's free.

Hello Ethan,

Yes, that is possible with the Restrictions. Just add one from the 13th (or earlier) to the 14th of February and set a minimum number of nights (MinLOS) to 2.
That way, those checking in on the 13th will have to check-out at least on the 15th or on the 16th in case they arrive on the 14th.

Thank your for the quick response!

One more question that I has just popped into my mind deals with additional add-ons in pricing. Example: My B&B wants to offer champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, valentines dinner, etc. etc.. In which seting on Vikbooking allows me to add these options to customers "shopping-cart."
Staff E4j
I think the Options should work well for you to let your customers choose some extra services like Champagne, Dinner etc..
Just create your Options from the back-end with a fixed or daily cost and assign them to your Rooms. The services selected will then be added to the cart.

Hello,
It looks like you installed that module before installing the main component VikBooking.
Just install it from the Extensions Manager and the installation will create the database structure. You should install the modules later, after you have at least configured one room and the prices.

Thank you

Hello:
I need to put a new price in my rooms since 2015, but i want to keep my actual price for the rest of this year
How can i do this please
Greetings

Staff E4j
Hello,
You can easily do that by creating a Special Price which is tied to the year 2015. Just put a range of dates for which you want to alter the prices per night and enable the function "tied to the year" in your Special Price.
This way the prices for 2014 will remain the same but you will be able to change them for 2015. Of course you can create more than one Special Price to change the prices on different dates of 2015.

I translated: vikbooking.ini, vikbooking.sys.ini, vikbooking_horizontalsearch.ini, vikbooking_pricefilter.ini and vikbooking_search.ini to German (in fact, i used the translations available, thanks a lot!)

But still i get "1 Night, 2 Rooms, 4 Adults" on top of the reservation progress (step 2 - rooms) as well as the steps itself are still in englisch, too.

Did i miss an language-ini file? Or do i have to do somethins in advance?

Hi,
The step-bar displayed at the top of the pages in the front-end of VikBooking, should use the language definitions of the .INI translation file for the site. If the whole front-end part of the component is still in English then it's because you are missing this file:
/language/de-DE/de-DE.com_vikbooking.ini
Otherwise if you have that translation file then the file does not contain a German translation for those definitions and you should check it manually. Just search for "step" or "rooms" to see what is missing.
I don't think that you are using an outdated translation file because the step-bar has always existed in VikBooking since the very first version but just in case, you should compare the German translation file with the English one to see if they contain the same number of lines (of translations) or it means that the German translation is not updated.
