Hi there
I am trying the demo for Events component, and cannot find a way of checking in attendees... is this possible with the demo?
Thanks so much.

Hi,
in the demo website it is not possible to check the attendees in because you should be logged in on that website with the authorised user account.
However, the check-in process is really simple and you only need to scan the QR codes and follow the links obtained when you are logged in as the "special" Joomla user.
You can find more information about the Check-in function of VikEvents in the Documentations page on our website.

How to enable/Disable the coupons system?
I tryied to hide the veventercoupon div in vikenents.css with "display: none", but it do nothing. When I inspect the value with debugger it is "display: block", when I view the file I see:
"display: none"
does the css file change at runtime?

Hi,
There's no need to edit the CSS file to disable the coupons system because you can do it from the Configuration of the component.
Probably some Javascript code is displaying the DIV block for the coupon.
Gingit 6-22-14 16:43
The enable/disable coupon from the configuration is for all items, how to set a coupon for a specipic item (and disable for other items)?
Staff E4j 6-22-14 16:54
It is not possible to display the coupon code form only for certain Events because such a setting doesn't exist.
However, you can create coupon codes that are valid only for certain events but if the global configuration setting is enabled then the coupon form will be displayed for any event.

Thank you for this wonderful extension! I am having some problems with the payment set-up, however. I have searched through responses to similar problems and nothing I have tried is solving the problems. First, I have published Authorize.net as a payment method and I have turned off "auto-set order to confirm." But when I go through the order process, everything works fine until I click the payment method and "confirm order." At that point, I get re-directed to my Joomla off-line message. (I do not have the site set to be off-line, either).

Secondly, I have published Paypal as a payment method as well, but it is not showing up as an option. I have entered my Paypal account, I have turned off "auto-set order to confirm" and I have cleared my cache.

The site is built in a subdomain. I don't know if this could be affecting anything or not.

Hi,
Events can have certain methods of payment enabled so you should check from the Edit page of your event if any individual method of payment is stopping the system to display all the published methods available.
Any method of payment that requires a validation of the payment from an external server, needs to have the setting "Auto-Set Order to Confirmed" disabled and that is correct in your case.
If the event is not free and a payment method like PayPal or Authorize.net is selected then the Status will be set to Pending and the payment form should be displayed in the Reservation Details page.
The sub-domain is not a problem at all if that's where Joomla is installed.

Hi,
The Paypal account I used in the payment method was wrong.
I replace it by the good one.
The problem is that I had already several participants whose status are pending ( with the wrong paypal account). Could you tell me how i can fix this?
Thank you

Hi,
There's nothing you should fix because now that the PayPal account is correct, all the pending reservations will take the new account you've set for PayPal.
If the ID of the payment method is the same, meaning that you did not delete the wrong account but simply updated it, everything will work normally.
Otherwise, if the ID of the method of payment has changed then you should edit those Pending reservations that were saved with the wrong PayPal account and change the method of payment to the new one. (This function was introduced in VikEvents 1.6)

Hi,
I changed the paypal account only in "the methods of payment" section and then saved.

Should I also fill out the account for payments in the configuration section ( This was never filled)?

What do you mean by the "ID of the payment method" because I don't find it?
Staff E4j 5-23-14 14:11
Hi,
Don't worry about the ID of the method of payment because that will be the same if you only changed the PayPal account from its parameters.
You don't need to enter an account for Payments in the Configuration because you have already put your account in the parameters of the method of payment PayPal.

ok thanks a lot

Hi,

You should create a new Joomla Menu Item and then choose between one of the types of VikEvents. I think the view Events List is the one that could work better. After adding that Menu Item, your Joomla Menu Module will display a link to the list of your events.

I´ve just installed Vik Events on Joomla 2.5.19. If I try to open administrator/index.php?option=com_vikevents I only get an ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED by my Browser (I tried Chrome an Safari).

Hi,
that error must be caused by the G-Zip compression. Please disable it from the Joomla Global Configuration as it's better not to compress the pages of VikEvents.
Some of the functions used may not be compatible for the G-Zip compression on your server configuration.

The ticket pricing seems to be stuck on Euros. I've changed it under the configuration plus cleared both Joomla and browser cache, but both old and new events are still showing Euros. Suggestions?

Some Configuration settings are saved in the PHP session so clearing the browser cache won't renew it. It usually takes around 15 minutes of inactivity before the session gets renewed. Use a different browser to see the new changes being applied immediately.
B.a. Umberger 3-28-14 21:36
Yep, that was it, except it took a bit longer. THX!

I've setup vikEvents 1.6, ticket purchases without login.

Is it possible to create a form for users to query their ticket status by using their email address without login?

Advice appreciated!

If the Configuration setting "Require Login" is disabled then the reservations made for some events that don't use the seating maps, will be visible from the Order Link received via eMail with the Tickets. Actually, because that link contains some crypted information, the tickets on the front-end are always visible from the Order Link, no matter if they chose some seats or not.
Unfortunately a task that redirects the users to their reservation page depending on the email address provided, does not exist. Also, this may cause problems if the email address has more than one reservation related to it.
Since you are not using the registration/login, you cannot use the User Orders List view because the reservations will not be tied to any specific logged in User ID.

Hello,

Please, how can I put a placeholder text into the input box for reservation. I have tried this placeholder="<?php echo $fname; ?>", it don't work because I understood there is some span tag generator with the label for each input but I can't find hot to edit. Is it difficult to change it?

Thank you.

Hello,

No, that shouldn't be too difficult to change. I assume you are working on the Confirmreservation view and probably the variable that you are using as placeholder ($fname) is either empty or contains HTML code so try using a different variables as placeholder.

Hi,

If you want the new registrations to be handled by a third party extension then you should change the link of the "Sign in or Sign up" button displayed in the Event view of VikEvents. The program will recognize any kind of Joomla user, no matter where they created their account from.

Nice one thanks - worked a treat

Hello,

What about the vikrentcar ?
I tried my best and fail to achieve this target,
Can you please help to solve this?

I need the CB to be the primary login/register in my site.

Thank you.
Staff E4j 8-16-14 18:57
@Xoomserve: you should add some php code in the View that prints the registration form to redirect the users onto a different page. Adjust the php code below to perform a redirection:

$mainframe = & JFactory :: getApplication();
$mainframe->redirect("index.php?option=com_yourcomponent&view=xyz");
